UFSCAR - Precision Seeding

In December 2023, Ceres Seeding supported the team from the Forest Seed and Seedling Laboratory (LASEM) at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCAR) in a study on the efficiency of drones for ecological restoration. The project was carried out using the row-based seeding methodology proposed by LASEM researchers.

For planting, the LASEM team selected 29 forest species, some of which were coated (pelletized) by Ceres Seeding to evaluate the impact of our treatments on seedling germination and establishment in fields.

The project took place in Sorocaba (SP) on the UFSCAR Campus in an area of approximately 1 hectare. The area was prepared by opening rows for precision planting. At the end of the project, we were able to demonstrate the precision of our automated drone planting, proving that the technology can be implemented for the most diverse planting methodologies.

LASEM researchers tested this methodology in rows with our methodology to generate a cost reduction in project maintenance. This is due to the ease of management in row planting and seedling development, reducing the number of interventions in the area for the success of the project.
